Sesame review

The short answer: Sesame bills its care fee apart from the brand-name GLP-1 pill or shot, and its own pages disagree on how often that fee bills. Confirm the total at checkout.

Our take on Sesame

Success by Sesame separates a care subscription from the cost of medication. Its current weight-loss menu describes brand-name GLP-1 pills and injections, with prescriptions filled separately through a local pharmacy or delivery option. The advertised drug price is not the care fee, and neither establishes your final total. Medication cost depends on the product, formulation, dose, pharmacy, insurance and offer eligibility. A low introductory price should not be extended across maintenance treatment. The orforglipron guide explains how Foundayo differs from other oral options. The low care headline requires a 12-month commitment, paid in advance. The month-to-month option has a higher advertised fee, but the same page describes that plan as both billed every month and billed every 28 days. Those intervals produce different budgets. If the binding schedule were every 28 days, a payment at enrollment followed by uninterrupted renewals would produce 14 charges during the first 365 days. That cash schedule differs from annualizing a recurring rate. Confirm the actual charge, renewal processing date, prepaid total and provider-specific fee before paying. Sesame says individual providers set their own prices and may charge more than the advertised starting figure.

The subscription describes video visits, unlimited messaging and ongoing clinical care with a provider you choose. Unlimited chat does not establish unlimited appointments with any clinician at any time. Ask how follow-up scheduling, urgent concerns, a provider change and medication adjustment requests are handled. The site advertises Quest laboratory costs as included except in Arizona, Hawaii, North Dakota, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Dakota and Wyoming. Elsewhere, confirm that your ordered test and chosen Quest location qualify. Using another laboratory can introduce a separate charge; an included test is not a promise that every possible investigation is covered.

The program fee is cash-pay and is not submitted to insurance. Medication coverage is a separate question. Sesame offers help with prior-authorization paperwork, but that does not establish formulary coverage, approval, your deductible or the pharmacy copay. A prescription can be sent to a preferred pharmacy, with same-day pickup described when available. Clinical review, inventory, authorization and pharmacy processing can prevent immediate pickup. The insurance coverage guide explains the questions to resolve before treating a quoted drug price as your own cost.

The weight-loss menu says compounded semaglutide is unavailable through this program. That is a description of its current offering, rather than evidence that a compounded alternative would be appropriate or legally available for you. A clinician must assess the specific medicine and indication. Published program milestones are based on an injectable semaglutide study, not a guarantee of results from every Sesame prescription or oral product. Compare the care model and practical costs through the GLP-1 pill lineup, then review the exact formulation with the treating clinician.

Cancellation has two distinct stages. The program page offers a full initial subscription refund when cancellation occurs at least three hours before the first visit; after that visit, the first month is nonrefundable. General membership terms require cancellation at least 48 hours before the applicable renewal processing date. They allow access through the paid term but do not prorate the current subscription. They also exclude refunds simply because no prescription was issued or the patient disagrees with the clinical outcome. Confirm which deadline applies to your selected plan and save the cancellation confirmation. Stopping medication or missing a visit does not itself establish cancellation of the care subscription.

What signing up looks like

  1. Answer a short questionnaire

Share your goals and health basics online, then create an account and choose a provider.

  2. Meet your provider by video

Your provider reviews your history in a video visit, tailors a plan and orders labs if needed.

  3. Fill it at your pharmacy

If prescribed, the medication goes to your preferred local pharmacy for pickup when available, or to home delivery.

  4. Stay in touch

Ongoing video visits, unlimited messaging and tracking tools come with the subscription.

Who prescribes, and the pharmacy

Sesame describes a marketplace of independent practitioners and says it does not practice medicine. Its terms state that listing a provider is not a credential-verification service or endorsement. You choose from available practitioners; confirm the actual clinician, state authority, follow-up arrangements and pharmacy before treatment. A local pharmacy or delivery option may dispense the prescription. Website statements about clinician qualifications do not independently establish a particular practitioner's credentials or a pharmacy's license.

Where Sesame does well

  • You choose your own provider and meet by video, with unlimited messaging and ongoing clinical care in the subscription.
  • Quest lab work is included in the program fee in most states.
  • Prints self-pay prices by dose for Foundayo, the Wegovy pill, Wegovy, Ozempic and Zepbound.
  • Prescriptions go to your own pharmacy for pickup when available, or home delivery.
  • Accepts insurance for the medication, and refunds the first fee if you cancel 3 hours before the visit.

What to check first

  • The program fee is on top of the drug price. Add both before you compare Sesame with all-in programs.
  • The low program price needs a 12-month plan. Budget by the month-to-month fee unless you'll stay a year.
  • Its FAQ says the monthly fee bills every 28 days but also calls it monthly. Check the date on your first bill.
  • Labs aren't covered in nine states, including New York and New Jersey. Ask for the lab price if you live there.
  • The current program does not offer compounded semaglutide. Discuss suitable treatment alternatives with the clinician.

It fits you if

You want a brand-name GLP-1 pill or shot with a provider you pick, video visits, labs included and pickup at your usual pharmacy.

Look elsewhere if

Questions about Sesame

How much does Sesame cost for a GLP-1 pill?
Add two prices: the self-pay drug price Sesame prints for your dose, and the program fee. Its pages describe the fee's billing two ways, so confirm the first charge at checkout. Product, dose and offer conditions can change the drug cost.
Is medication included in the Sesame subscription?
No. The Success by Sesame fee covers visits, messaging and most lab work. The medication is paid separately at your pharmacy.
Does Sesame offer compounded semaglutide?
No. Sesame says compounded semaglutide isn't available through its program; providers prescribe brand-name GLP-1s.
Can I use insurance with Sesame?
For the medication, yes, if your plan covers it. The program fee itself isn't billed to insurance.
What is Sesame's refund policy?
Cancel at least 3 hours before your first visit for a full refund. After that visit, the first month is nonrefundable. General membership terms require cancellation at least 48 hours before renewal processing, with no prorated refund for the current paid term. Not receiving a prescription does not itself qualify for a refund.
